Stacey and i continued to follow the fence-line along the mysterious Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge. They must have a lot of roadrunners to protect from cars.
Following fence-lines makes for easy navigation though.
Cacti are abundant in these Juniper/Pinyon Pine forests.
Arriving at Highway 60, we easily hitched a ride 18 miles into Mountainair to eat breakfast and resupply.
The nice gentleman who picked us up had to take care of a few chores and visited with a few friends. He then seeked us out and offered us a ride back to where we were picked up.
However, before heading back up to the pass, he gave us a tour of the Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument. We are just so amazed by the generosity of all the people we meet along our Way.
Then it was cross country wash walking until we reached the edge of the Manzano Mountains directly ahead of us.
The higher peaks top out at over 10,000 feet.
It's as if you can see into forever in New Mexico, where embracing everything becomes the gateway to nothing or One thing... where the stillness of peace penetrates life at light speed.
However, wildfires push the reset button on that which grows wild and free. Death is the Grand Gateway to the newest version and dimension of life.
