The Grand Enchantment Trail ~ Part 13

We were expecting to see escaped burros in the savannas of Jackass Park.

Imagine spending a summer season here in the West Fork of the Gila River.

This trail of perpetual water crossings is a jewel beyond compare.

Again, the air was hot and sizzling whereas the water turned our chicken legs into icicles.

The sandstone formations imitated towering castle spires.... or is it the other way around.

We crossed paths we three seasoned long distance hikers exploring the nooks and crannies of the canyons and snow covered mountains.

When you are in the middle of nowhere.. you will find veteran triple crown hikers looking for adventure.

Birds flirted with each other as they prepared for nesting season.

Cliff dwellers made paradise their home too,

The Gila River felt like the essence of Enchantment.

I love the feeling you get when there is no other place you would rather be.

And then there was the contrast from freezing cold water to boiling hot water.

Gila Hot Springs softened our feet and opened our hearts to thought provoking conversations with its caretaker and fellow soakers.
